At the end of November we took the bus to nearby York early in the morning on probably one of the coldest days for this time of the year.
There is so much to see and to do in York so that it would take days to see everything. However, the guided tour through the narrow cobblestone streets of York was ideal to discover the most important aspects of the fascinating history of York’s medieval past which is still visible in York’s historical buildings and monuments.
Although we did not see a ghost at the Golden Fleece, we spotted traces of last days flooding at King’s Staith in form of a great amount of mud. Probably because of Black Friday and the Christmas Market it was even busier in the centre of York than usual, but we finally managed to find a café to warm up before we continued with the second part of the guided tour. We were all quite tired on the way back to Leeds and although not everyone agreed that York is more beautiful than Leeds, we all agreed that we had a great day out! We will see where next Getaway Saturday in January will take us :)”
